A cool place to park

This is my new studio space, where the magic will happen. The form is simple, and the function is nearly infinite.

Getting back on track

I've had a little bit of musical downtime recently (as evidenced by my recent obsessing over the layout of the site). The trusty Macbook that served me faithfully from the recording of "Seppuku Party 1702" through "The Hallowed Path to Oblivion" just wasn't able to bear the load anymore, and I had to spring for something new. Today I'm updating from my new iMac. 2TB of hard drive space, a 3.06 GHz dual core processor, and 8GB of RAM should do the trick for a while. All of my recording software is installed, I'll be working on transferring my current song files onto this machine over the weekend, and then it will be time to bang out some new tracks for the Sigh Morosely soundtrack. Plus, I scored a brand new B.C. Rich VG-1 Virgin guitar for my birthday this week, that I can't wait to lay into some tracks. Expect new material soon!

The more things change, the more they stay the same...

All existence is a cycle of dynamism, stasis and entropy... Of change, settling, and destruction of the unnecessary. So is the nature of evolution. This project has moved into the next phase of its own evolution. As some of you know, I suffer(?) from a slight case of musical schizophrenia. I have a lot of ideas, and not all of them hang together with the others. In the past, when I've had an idea that greatly differed from the others, I created a new musical persona through which I would express that idea. Once that persona was created, I would establish a new "band name" for that persona. I have decided recently, however, that the latter half of this process is unnecessary; and have opted to place all of my past and future musical output under the banner of The Necrophonic Orchestra, from here on out. Don't worry... though the diabolical Old Scratch has been lurking in the shadows since the release of Spookshow, he is far from gone. I've just had some other ideas that I needed to get out; and in true gentlemanly form, Old Scratch decided to step out of the spotlight for a bit. He still speaks to me and through me on occasion... And he will likely be back one day. Until that time, I have a lot of other stuff available, and have altered my myspace page and www.necrophonic.net to reflect my paradigm shift. I've also made a good deal of my output available for free, and have chosen to sell at-cost the few items that production expenses required me to exchange for money. This means that I've given up on commerce in favor of art, and have opted to stop focusing on profiting when I could simply be creating. I'm sure this is a novel concept to those who have had their outlooks tainted by the music industry, which manufactures music instead of creating it, pollutes the airwaves with profit-centric garbage, and sucks the soul out of living art through unnatural mass-production all in the name of the almighty dollar... But I'm going back to my roots on this one. The underground has always been my home, and subterranian I will remain.

It only hurts a little the first time...

Welcome! This is the official blog of the Necrophonic Orchestra (though my - as in Dominick's - personal blog is located elsewhere deep in the recesses of the internet, where it is friends-locked and chock full of horribly uninteresting bullshit). This blog will be less personal, and will mostly contain project updates, rants, musings, and whatever other random crap I decide to throw on here at 3:00 in the morning, when I should be doing more productive things. I won't complain about my work day, talk about my attempts to get into shape, share memes, or post pictures of my cat here. There may occasionally be posts of "depth" that contain "insight" into who I am, how my mind works and how I see the world; but I'm not making any promises. This thing is only going to be updated semi-regularly, so don't get too bent out of shape if I don't say anything new here for long periods of time. It's not because I don't love you. It's just because I often have better things to do, and most of my life isn't really that interesting to begin with.

So... Yeah. Thanks for stopping by. I'd offer you punch and pie, but this is the internet and shoving baked goods and beverages into a computer usually just leads to mess and expense.
